FAST of NH to Host Northern New England Conference
on the Financial Exploitation of Older Adults
Concord, NH – FAST of NH (Financial Abuse Specialty Team) will host professionals from northern New England at the Better Together Conference on June 3, 2025, at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH for a day focused on combatting elder financial exploitation through a series of workshops led by experts in the field.
Financial exploitation of older adults continues to be a growing and complex problem in New Hampshire and nationwide – one that requires a collaborative response. FAST of NH is a non-profit organization with a mission to combat elder financial exploitation by building public awareness, providing professional education, and supporting legislative efforts.
“As a banker, I’ve seen firsthand how devastating financial elder abuse can be,” said Greg Doolittle, Vice President/Compliance and Audit of Walden Mutual Bank and Vice President of the Board of Directors of FAST of NH. “This conference will help strengthen our collective efforts to protect the hard-earned savings of older adults and ensure they can enjoy their retirement years with confidence and dignity.”
The Better Together Conference will feature eight workshops and bring together attendees from law enforcement and the courts, adult protective services, financial and legal services, veterans’ affairs, caregivers, community services and older adult advocates to share expertise, current initiatives, and ways to coordinate efforts. The program will be held from 8:30AM to 3:30PM and will include breakfast and lunch. The registration fee is $75.
AARP NH, focused on combatting fraud and protecting older adults, is the conference’s lead sponsor. “AARP NH is honored to sponsor the Better Together Conference because we know elder financial exploitation is vastly prevalent and underreported,” said AARP NH State Director Christina FitzPatrick. “By working together across all sectors, we can create a safety net of awareness and support to protect our loved ones.”
Additional conference sponsors include Bank of NH, St. Mary’s Bank, Fidelity Investments, Piscataqua Savings Bank, Seacoast Crime Stoppers, FAST of Vermont, and Service Credit Union.
Conference keynote speaker Amy Nofziger of the AARP Fraud Watch Network has been fighting fraud for 18 years. She served a term on the State of Colorado’s Elder Abuse Task Force, which resulted in Colorado passing a mandatory Elder Abuse reporting law. Due to her experience and expertise, Nofziger has received frequent public speaking invitations and has presented across the country to consumers and professionals on consumer fraud.
